DEVELOPMENTAL TEAMS OUR GOAL
As sports have become more competitive locally and nationally, it has become more important to train and receive proper instruction year-round. 90% of Professional and Division I Athletes come from warmer climates states or countries. The main reason for this is that athletes in warmer climates train and play year-round resulting in far more superior skils than athletes from colder climates.

By having Developmental Teams, we can help level the competitive field by providing our athletes with:
  • Facilities
  • Professional Instruction/coaching
  • Tournaments and leagues to DEVELOP their skills at the same or better rate than warmer climate athletes.
  • Training athletes 10 to 11 months of the year, which is consistent with warmer clients
Saints Development Teams will not interfere with any community, traveling or high school programs and is intended to be an additional training and developmental opportunity for players to participate in preparation for their spring and summer programs.

The goal will be to field a minimum of one team per age (12U-18U). If numbers allow, multiple teams may be created for a certain age. If multiple teams within a certain age are not possible, participants that evaluate in the lower end for their age will be offered an alternate program.
WHAT TO EXPECT DEVELOPMENTAL TEAMS INCLUDE
As a member of the Saints Developmental Baseball Team, athletes will be expected to participate in weekly two hour practices starting mid-August through February. This will total 18-25 practices. Practices will not be scheduled for holiday or school break weeks. Team members will receive highly-qualified instruction from St. Paul Saints Manager George Tsamis plus current and former Saints players and coaches. Athletes will learn proper techniques in hitting, fielding (infield and outfield), throwing, pitching, and catching. Along with position-specific training, athletes will have weight training (ages 14-18) and plyometric agility & quickness training (all ages).

Each team will participate in a Fall League*, which runs five (5) weeks September through October, that includes doubleheaders on Sundays. Teams will also have the opportunity to travel on one (1) to three (3) out-of-state tournaments September-February. Travel packages will be offered through the St. Paul Saints/Saints Sports Academy using our corporate airline, hotel and ground sponsors or you may book them on your own. Travel costs may be added to athletes monthly billing option. Players will typically travel to warmer climate states or cities like Florida, Arizona, Texas, California & Las Vegas.

*When talent level applies, teams will be placed into an Advanced Fall League
